[Highly rated reviewer]If you are familiar with the original Robert E Howard character you will find little here of his well-crafted visceral stories. If you are familiar only with the 80s Arnie film you will recognise several nods to it in what is essentially a re-make of that film for the X Box generation.
Actually that's being unfair to X Box owners.....this is a movie with minimal plot, badly handled action scenes, mind-boggling devices (the villain travels cross country in a ship carried by elephants....). One or two half decent moments can't salvage this turkey. Momoa shows promise in the lead role but is hampered by a lousy script that must have REH spinning in his grave.
Fails to work as a Conan film, fails to work as a generic sword and sorcery film

ANother bad remakeBy trekkie21661 (12 reviews) , 12 Aug 2012Another terrible remake. Me and my partner both found ourselves laughing at this contribution. I dont know why they needed to remake in first place, The acting is terrible, story line all over the place,
Poor - annoyingly poor. Should have been much better!By JoshGrey (47 reviews) , 05 Aug 2012Oh dear....oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.
Disappointing on too many levels to record. Momoa does capture some aspects of the brooding, character but the sprawling mess is so bloated that it rapidly gets lost in a (unintentional) disaster flick that makes Arnie's performances look like Oscar material.
The set pieces are pleasant enough but not enough to class or originality to carry this flick beyond bargain bin.
There's little to recommend this film other than it's not too long ...actually come to think about it - yes it is. Annoyingly poor.
Only if your bored!By Big_Rich (6 reviews) from Basildon , 02 Aug 2012I have to say i was not impressed with this remake and can in no way compare it to the original, some films should just be left to the drawing board and not be remade!
Only if you have nothing else to watch, do or hireBy O-ren-ishii (13 reviews) from Planet X , 26 Jul 2012Who funded this ...? There are some great supporting actors picking up pay.
CGI doesn't help a poor script, dreadful leads, terrible everything else.
BUT it was fluff for a lazy weekend or when you're off sick with nothing else to see.
Its hard to believe this movie actually did something for Arnie's career. It was cheezy in that 70s Sinbad sort of way. But how this version going to help Jason Momoa though, is pushing the luck too far.
Blood and guts galoreBy a customer , 20 Jul 2012If you like lots of action, blood, guts and gore then you will love this film!
As you can imagine in this type of film with swords and axes being wielded it's not for the faint-hearted.
It seemed to take Conan soooooo long to catch up with the man who he saw as responsible for the death of his Father and those in his village.
The daughter of the bad guy was very freaky - but I loved her make-up!
Another avenging epic-type movie of the genre that is fairly similar to all the others.
Conan was cute though!
