Reality is more than frightening enough

There's been a lot of criticism of this film for not being sufficiently pumped up and over the top like every other disaster movie. What made it for me was the reverse - it was careful to stick to the facts, or at least what we believe will happen in the case of a pandemic like this. Anybody who wasn't scared by the millions of deaths, the rioting on the streets, and the breakdown of society wasn't paying attention. All the better for not overplaying it!- Was this review helpful to you?

(203)Not great
By a customer , 21 May 2013Average movie, it lacked suspense. I almost fell asleep, my friend found it OK. Don't expect too much, same story different actors.- Was this review helpful to you?

Plausible plot
By a customer , 19 May 2013Nicely scripted movie with a fairly plausible premise. Although, the Jude Law character walking through a newspaper office shouting 'Print media is dead' is a bit naff. Yes, we GET it! You're a blogger!- Was this review helpful to you?

Too many spreading stories
By Ningen (15 reviews) from Oxford , 08 May 2013A tricky tale to tell when the baddy (a virus) can't be seen. Not entirely successful as there are too many stories going on: a blogger distorting the truth for self publicity, a scientist developing the vaccine, a public health worker trying to contain the disease, the chief of CDC in trouble for warning his lover ahead of a public announcement, the kidnapping of a WHO official. The best home for this would be an extended TV series but crammed into a film there is not enough time devoted to any one story to get you involved.- Was this review helpful to you?

More a cold than flu
By FullofStars (41 reviews) from Scotland , 13 Apr 2013I love these kinds of films, but this one didn't quite make the grade. The documentary hand-held style gets a little boring and detracted from the story, which though by no means original was still good, however the execution lacked real suspense.- Was this review helpful to you?
