Conviction
By a customer from Salisbury, Wiltshire , 03 Apr 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
Well, not bad at all. The camera work is rather 'innovative' i.e. a bit juddery and looking up the actors' nostrils, BUT you get used to it quickly. Pay attention because the flashbacks or 'could've been' scenes are sometimes confusing. All in all, interesting, quirky detective/police story. Fair amount of characters' personal lives, but this blends OK with the rest of the script.- Was this review helpful to you?

(13)Conviction - The Complete Series
By a customer from London, England , 15 Mar 2011I've watched this, and I've got to say I don't agree with the rave reviews this seems to be getting.
It tries to be (and succeeds in being) quite gritty, but that doesn't automatically make it good. In terms of tone and procedural style police drama, it's very similar to Prime Suspect.- Was this review helpful to you?

Superb viewing.....
By a customer from Truly Bleak , 01 Dec 2010Saw this on BBC3 a long time back and it remains a great piece of now, sadly rare quality, terrestrial TV drama. Lots of strong, well cast characters, a plot/script geared to building suspense and a great portrayal of the paraniod descent into vigilantism and what follows. Very good stuff.- Was this review helpful to you?

Customer Review
By a customer from UK , 23 Jun 2008I've watched this, and I've got to say I don't agree with the rave reviews this seems to be getting.
It tries to be (and succeeds in being) quite gritty, but that doesn't automatically make it good. In terms of tone and procedural style police drama, it's very similar to Prime Suspect. Where the reviewer who compared it to the "Constant Gardener" was coming from I don't know.
While I accept that TV is escapism and you've (often) got to suspend your belief a little, for something that's essentially a serious program, I found one aspect of this series so totally ridiculous that I nearly gave up (I won't spoil it). It was only because it was well acted and scripted that I stuck with it.
It's alright. I watched it, I wasn't bored and it did have it's moments; but NYPD Blue, Morse, Homicide or (the better episodes of the aforementioned) Prime Suspect, it isn't.- Was this review helpful to you?

Hackneyed and Cliche-Ridden
By TRS80 (95 reviews) from Northwich , 17 Jan 2008The story has been used many times on better 'police' programs. Either the acting was poor or was the result of a poor script. Whichever it was I gave up after the first episode as I couldn't face six hours of it.- Was this review helpful to you?
