Forget about the inanities of Smokey and the Bandit, this film remains the epitome of trucking movies. Kris Kristofferson plays the heroic driver who thumbs his nose at authority and collects a disparate group of truckers for an epic journey across the US, which sees him cross the roadblocks of sheriff Ernest Borgnine. It's pretty lightweight fare for director Sam Peckinpah, but he builds an unstoppable momentum that makes you forget about the weak performances from Kristofferson and Ali MacGraw. The appalling title song by CW McCall, which is actually the source of the movie, was a massive hit at the time.
Taking CW McCall's hit single as starting-point, scriptwriter Bill Norton (director of Cisco Pike) makes Rubber Duck... read more on Time Out
A virtually plotless anthology of wanton destruction. Too noisy to sleep through.
This is just a classic film from a time when things were more friendly a the good buddies pulling together films like this dont need big budgets or special effects...
Ok so its a little cheesy in todays climate, but there is a fantastic, lasting image of a HUGE convoy over a mile long in my head. Anyone remember the CB radio fad? Well worth a look.
Having not seen this film for over 15 years I thought I would revisit my childhood with this road movie. Shouldn't have bothered, it was wooden with no real story, terrible acting and script. It's amazing how trucks and a few crushed police cars make a film......if you are 10 that is.
I am a big Truck fan, so I am going to be bias..but this is one classic film you can watch over and over again.. the dvd seems to be missing scenes I am sure were in the VHS version..the reporter spoke to more truckers I am sure, but hey, if like me, you love trucks hurtling down the highway and the smokies coming unstuck... you will love it too.
The whole film is action packed, and plays with your emotions very well.
Good old classic movie, if your into big trucks and a reasonably good story line then this is one to watch

Good flick, although I can't understand why some bits were cut from the video I have.
Worth a watch, if only for a laff.

Well it's not a bad little film. The story seems to be strung out a little, but the acting is good and there are a few familar faces to been seen among the cast. Other than that it's an ok movie, which is worth renting just to have a little friday night, not think to hard entertainment.
The film has dated a bit, and seems to me to be a bit more drawn out than I remember it, having said that i watched it with my 15 year old son who thought it was great.
From start to finish no other trucking film comes close to this one, you just can't beat the downright stubborn rebel without a cause attitude of the duck in this 18 wheeling madness
its the classics like this that help shape young ppls minds and help them pick a career. if you have a love for driving then you will enjoy this.

"...CONVOY is almost glowingly affirmative..."
