Six friends, Three boys, Three girls, sexual tension and all a little disfuntional. Sounds like a poor rip-off of 'Friends', right?
Sorry, but no. If we are going to compare, 'Coupling' wins hands down. A talented cast and sharp writing ensure that there are many times that this show is laugh out loud funny.
As always the first series is finding its feet and introducing the characters, but still manages to be a lot more fun and less sanitised than its american cousin. The second series really hits its stride, but this is still modern britsih comedy that stand shoulder to shoulder with the like of The Office.
Finally having got around to renting this DVD, wondering what the fuss was about, and intruiged by the comparisons with Friends (which I do enjoy), I have to say that this is superb. I watched the whole series right through, twice, in one day, something I've never done, and am now panting for series 2 to arrive.
The writing is outstanding, and the actors work superbly together to deliver a hugely funny, sexy and intensely British comedy.
The gorgeous Sarah Alexander adds the icing on the cake to what is the best comedy series I've seen in a very long time.
