I've Seen Better.....
By a customer from Sussex , 24 May 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
Not one of Gene Kelly's best musicals, but worth a watch anyway.
The story is rather predictable but the songs and dance numbers are a joy (especially the one where Kelly dances with himself).
A nice little musical but not the best I've seen.- Was this review helpful to you?

By Miriam from Ealing, London , 11 Sep 2010I love musicals like this film, and watching the dancing genius of
Gene Kelly and Rita Hayworth and the lovely dresses she wore.- Was this review helpful to you?

too cheery by half
By a customer from Lewes , 15 Sep 2008This film is really tiresome and the songs are terrible...but there's no doubt that Hayworth is a great dancer....but that's really not enough...and a silly plot, you can tell it's made as fatuous as possible so as to cheer up the troops, or wives at home in wartime....but today it just feels schmaltzy and tedious- Was this review helpful to you?

Rated a Joy
By a customer from Wirral.England , 11 Jan 2007This is a film to be enjoyed by sitting and watching the complete ambience of the film which moves along at a good pace and the scenes are terrific for a 1940s film. What a joy it is to watch a film with no violence or the other scenes. Just sit back and enjoy also has the added bonus of Phil Silvers. I think Kellys role was played down in the dancing dept. merely to allow
Rita Hayworth full exposure. What a Job she does of it. Great- Was this review helpful to you?

Cover Girl
By neworder from Shropshire , 18 Nov 2004A fascinating romp in 40's American big show piece of whimsy. Hayworth, Kelly and Silvers give it all they've got, with some amazing dance from the young Gene.
Did they speed it up? The pre-Bilko Phil Silvers is extraordinary - what a trooper!- Was this review helpful to you?
