LOVEFiLM Review

By Tom Charity from LOVEFiLM
Despite a whole load of scriptwriters, producers and an impressive cast, Jon Favreau's latest is a bit of a mess.

Jumpy and entertaining
By RainbowJoBirko (123 reviews) from Derbyshire, England , 16 Aug 2011[Highly rated reviewer]
So lets get the totty bit out the way - Daniel Craig - tick!
We went to see this film as a free preview and having seen a few trailers I was unsure what to expect. Once I saw that it is directed by Jon Favreau (Ironman) I knew action and great CGI was in store!
The cast was brimming with stars - Craig, Harrison Ford, Sam Rockwell - the list continues!
I was surprised at how well the mix of cowboys and aliens mixed - with a few Indians thrown in for good measure.
There were plenty of scary jumpy moments which were fun, the whole movie was actually fun and just full of explosions, fight scenes and some blood and gore - it was great!
Fully entertaining - just get in and enjoy if you like a new take on some old school cowboy action, mixed with some jumpy alien moments!- Was this review helpful to you?

(385)Oh Lordy, who thought of this?
By Stuk777 (7 reviews) from N1 3EL , 09 Apr 2013An utterly ridiculous premise - dealt with all seriousness by everyone in the piece - especially Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig. How ever did they manage to keep straight faces with all the crazy nonsense going on around them. It really beggars belief. The plot is pure hokum and a re-hash of all manner of kidnap yarns. The special effects and weaponry are cool and interesting. But someone somewhere in a movie mogul's office must have thought that a western alone wouldn't cut the mustard, and turning the yarn wholly into a sci-fi adventure wouldn't work either, so they settled on an uncomfortable amalgamation of the two genres which frankly, should have seemed massively unlikely to result in a successful pairing. The resultant offsprings lives-up (or is it down?) to the low expectation. Alright for a rainy afternoon if you find yourself stuck in doors waiting for the spin cycle to finish, but otherwise, probably best to avoid.- Was this review helpful to you?

Very poor
By Ash82 (19 reviews) , 22 Mar 2013Absolute rubbish, boring, detached, too many dark scenes, shocking plot. First scene is ok with Daniel Craig but then it just goes downhill.- Was this review helpful to you?

Total Pants
By Smicker (1 review) , 03 Mar 2013I think Daniel Craig and Harison Ford are brilliant, but what we're they thinking appearing in this. I love westerns and sci-fi, so I thought I couldn't go wrong with this film. I couldn't have been more wrong. Absolutely terrible.- Was this review helpful to you?
