  • A fascinating movie...not to be missed!

I am a straight woman and Eva Green is just amazingly beautiful to me: her large green eyes and lips ,her seductively wispy voice and the most stunning breasts I have ever seen: she is truly a one of a kind, femme fatale. Not only that, but she is exquisite as an actress. And she certainly proves it in this movie. The plot and characters are deep and rich and incredibly colourful. This movie was a real treat for me, simply because it's the kind of movie I love to see, and there are just not enough movies made like this. In a nutshell, the story takes place in a girl's boarding school. Ms.G (Eva Green) has her 'team' of girls that she loves to be the Queen Bee of.The girls look up to her, as she claims to be so well travelled and wise. It is only when a Spanish girl,Fiamma joins the team, that the balance of the group is challenged.Fiamma is from an aristocratic family and from the start she is envied and disliked, despite her better efforts. The story unravels to show that Ms.G's is not all that she seems and what follows is a very unexpected end ,indeed. The actresses are flawless, especially Eva as Ms. G and Maria Valverde as the beautiful and mature Fiamma.

This movie reminds me of my favourite book of all time 'Perfume' by Patrick Suskind, in that both protagonists in each of the stories feel so empty within themselves as people that they become obsessed about taking on another's qualities because that is what they feel would complete them as people.

The results in both stories, are indeed tragic. This is a fascinating, intriguing, beautifully executed movie that really moved me.I really couldn't fault any aspect of this movie (expect perhaps the title of the book/movie).A must see.

  • An introspective movie in my opinion

    Rated - 3.5 stars

An interesting introspective psycho-drama. The view sight is focused on the inner part of the characters, even though they are not fully unveiled , and thus a lot is left to intuition and imagination. Not obvious as some other reviews would suggest in my opinion. A beautiful movie opened to the watcher; inside a determined conclusion, it leaves anyone with a different feeling or idea. No good people and bad people, no black or white; shades of grey, and this is the kind of cinema I like. P. S.: loved the photography and scenario too, its isolation and feel of beauty and loneliness, perfectly matched with the plot.

  • Beautiful but lacking passion

I loved the scenery, location and costumes. I also enjoyed the complicated Miss G and her sham of a life was quite heart breaking. The rivalries and relationships between pupils was the main focus of the film. Not a gripping film and sad ending so not one to uplift you in any way.

  • Gives nepotism a bad name.

Dismal, predictable, with every boarding school cliche in the book. I spent most of the film wishing I was watching Picnic at Hanging Rock or Flirting instead. It looks good, but the script is dreadful. I doubt it would ever have been made if Jordan Scott didn't have Daddy and Uncle Tony behind her.

  • Worth A Watch.

There's not much to this movie but then again it IS a British movie so what can you expect! It's a good picture with good acting but the plot is rather dull with a disappointing ending leaving you thinking, oh is that it...ok. But a worthwhile watch.

Worth watching for the exquisite photography and direction, this is a sensitive tale of loyalties, affections and rivalries amongst a group of girls at an exclusive school. Ultimately, the obsessional mindset of one particular teacher eventually brings tragedy to the close-knit group. Enjoyable and thought-provoking.
