  • A fascinating movie...not to be missed!

I am a straight woman and Eva Green is just amazingly beautiful to me: her large green eyes and lips ,her seductively wispy voice and the most stunning breasts I have ever seen: she is truly a one of a kind, femme fatale. Not only that, but she is exquisite as an actress. And she certainly proves it in this movie. The plot and characters are deep and rich and incredibly colourful. This movie was a real treat for me, simply because it's the kind of movie I love to see, and there are just not enough movies made like this. In a nutshell, the story takes place in a girl's boarding school. Ms.G (Eva Green) has her 'team' of girls that she loves to be the Queen Bee of.The girls look up to her, as she claims to be so well travelled and wise. It is only when a Spanish girl,Fiamma joins the team, that the balance of the group is challenged.Fiamma is from an aristocratic family and from the start she is envied and disliked, despite her better efforts. The story unravels to show that Ms.G's is not all that she seems and what follows is a very unexpected end ,indeed. The actresses are flawless, especially Eva as Ms. G and Maria Valverde as the beautiful and mature Fiamma.

This movie reminds me of my favourite book of all time 'Perfume' by Patrick Suskind, in that both protagonists in each of the stories feel so empty within themselves as people that they become obsessed about taking on another's qualities because that is what they feel would complete them as people.

The results in both stories, are indeed tragic. This is a fascinating, intriguing, beautifully executed movie that really moved me.I really couldn't fault any aspect of this movie (expect perhaps the title of the book/movie).A must see.

Tried to watch this online, but had to give up as it kept buffering and the sound quality was terrible.

Thought it was very slow to get going and ended up switching it off.

Eva Green was fantastic in this, i could watch her all day. But the story line itself was pretty good. I give it a thumbs up.

  • 'The Cracks': Not too many here

Sapphic overtones inform this story set in a remote private school for girls. Based on a novel, the plot draws on 'The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie', 'If', and 'Lord of the Flies'. A timely antidote perhaps to the unrealistic hogwash of JK Rowling's Hogworts, this film shows all too clearly the dangers of placing children in the hands of strangers, including those of other children. There are some lyrical diving and swimming scenes, very well choreographed, and the mountainous and lakeside settings are exquisite. A fine directorial debut for Ridley Scott's daughter, Jordan, and all-round top-notch performances from the predominantly female cast, old and young.
