Romeo Must Die duo Jet Li and rapper DMX here reunite with director Andrzej Bartkowiak for another frenetic slice of cultural fusion. This unpretentious action thriller with its combination of eastern martial arts and western urban grit may not be rocket science, but it's still an enjoyable ride. Playing with the clichés of the buddy movie, this has DMX's streetwise entrepreneur forced into an uneasy alliance with Taiwanese intelligence agent Li after his young daughter is kidnapped by Li's former partner (Mark Dacascos). Though the hip-hop influences of Bartkowiak's previous work still dominate the tale's soundtrack and language, he seems to have refined his film-making style. There's a lot more wit, stereotypes are inverted and both the action sequences and special effects are imaginative yet believable. Li's English remains clumsy, but he's a gloriously entertaining fighter, and it's pleasing to see a feature where all the female protagonists give as good as they get.

    Kick Ass Jet Li

Although this film has an almost identical ending to Romeo must Die (the fight in the fire ring) I still found it great, what Romeo must die was missing, Cradle 2 the Grave had! DMX Gives a good performance only bested by Drag-On who I hope to some day see more of as he surprised me.

Jet Li is as good as always with some great fight scenes, its just sad the amount of CGI/stunt doubles/ropes he uses.

But this still doesn't take away how great he is to watch.

I know I haven't reviewed the storyline, but you can see what the films about on the title description, but I would 100% recommened this to any martial art fan.

    DMX Bandits

Teaming up rapper DMX with chop socky star Jet Li is the most original and explosive on-screen team since....Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan in 2001's Rush Hour 2! OK, so we've seen it all before, and with Cradle 2 The Grave we get to see it all again. DMX plays a devoted father and jewel thief who 'accidentally' steals some highly valuable diamonds from Mark Dacascos' chief bad guy. Jet Li plays a Taiwanese cop who teams up with the X'er to protect the booty and save the world. The fighting sequences are pretty cool with little Matrix-like wire work, and a great 15 on 1 battle sequence makes up for a cliched plot. One for a rainy day or rap fans.

    Rent before purchase

"Cradle 2 the Grave" is just like Jet Li’s previous action films and it just as forgettable. Still, there is some enjoyment coming from the action scenes, therefore warranting a rental. The video/audio quality is pretty darn good, but the extras are a bit dull and too brief. Make this film a rental. Devoted fans of Jet Li should definitely rent it before considering a purchase.

Not sure what I was expecting in this film, but what you get is an all action, kung fu fighting on the edge of your seat film. Really enjoyed the fight scenes. Some of the acting was a bit wooden but you cant really concentrate on that because the films on the go all the time.

    Weird title. Good film

Car chases, clever tech gadgets, gorgeous girls, almost plausible plot line and awesome fight scenes. Yes possibly a guy flick but do not be put off by that. The action scenes are well worth the rental and the bonus feature adds to the enjoyment. You may want to watch this twice but that will be it, its not a keeper. Saturday night view after a night out will be just the ticket. Not a classic, but in the right circumstance its on the nail.

The main actors put in a strong performance especially Jet Li and Anthony Anderson. Great scene early on where one of the hard men has to camp it up to distract a security guard; very funny.

This is definitely not Saturday evening family viewing, as the language is quite extreme. So give it a go.

    Easy-on-the-brain entertainment.

Not what I was expecting, but still very enjoyable. Worth it if you're a fan of any of the lead actors (Jet Li, DMX and the gorgeous Gabrielle Union)! Not sure why Mark Dacascos had a limited role in this. Stick around through the credits for a very funny dialogue between Tom Arnold and Anthony Anderson!

This film has stopped me stereotyping action films

Well at least it was not a cop film

However it had similarities to bad boys & lethal weapon (without guns)

A little jackie chan humour here and there and the fight scenes were not ruined by the Matrix and crouching tiger special effects

As a rule i do not do action films as i have seen too many flops, but this had:

    a pretty good plot

a likeable cool dude hero type

    an annoying tagalong

and some pretty good fight scenes

    overall i was very impressed,

I have never seen a more pathetic film than this. 'Carnival of souls' comes close but this topes them all. It's worth getting it if you fancy bringing someone over for a couple of beers, and have a good time laughing at the sheer bladness, bling bling, fancy cars and overcoolness of the film. Otherwise go for something with a director that's a bit more concerned with the story line, than what the characters are wearing!

    P.S. bling bling

'<i>Cradle to the Grave</i>' is one of those films which you have to approach with an open mind I think. Before seeing this film I had watched the movie "<i>Romeo Must Die</i>" numerous times (another action flick starring Jet Li) and enjoyed that hugely, so I had a preconcieved expectation about this movie, already being a fan of Jet Li's work. I think the film has a great storyline and a really great cast. Jet Li's acting skills leave a lot to be desired, however the performances from <b>DMX</b> and <b>Gabrielle Union</b> are fantastic - and there is an element of humour included from <b>Anthony Anderson</b> and <b>Tom Arnold</b>. I would definitely recommend this, the story line is great and it's a shame that there aren't more mainstream movies like these at the moment.

No classic, more like 2 1/2 stars.....

....this film follows the 'typical' storyline with the current great chinese martial arts actors.

A oriental cop (jet li)goes over to good old USA to deal with a national criminal. He hooks up with DMX, a small time crook and forms a partnership.

The film is watchable and the plot is lame! As a fan of Jet Li's original films where the emphasis is on pure martial arts, the transition to the US means that there is also other types of action associated with the 'norm' for hollywood action films, which some may find a bonus, but i suppose they had to make a compromise.

Below-average action film. Too much emphasis on action and stunts, not enough on acting, story and dialogue. Jet Li has been wasted in this!
