if the first one is anything to go by this is going to be an adrenaline pumped film. iv seen clips on the internet and it looks good, jason statham does not disappoint as an actor so im really looking forward to this being released
A 5 star rating Hey?
By your own admission, neither of you have seen the movie, yet you both give it a 5 star rating.
And one of you is labeled as a 'Highly Rated Reviewer'. What a Joke!
That will be a great movie, about action, action, and mmm... action :)
this film is so ridiculous its unreal. i'm totally prepared to let my mind go when watching a film but this was taking it too far. for example - a big gunfight starts in a club and ends with the police taking a beating from chelios outside it. then insues a police chase to get him and when cornered they stand shouting and waving their guns at him then let a guy on a motorbike ride in, stop, let chelios get on the bike (very slowly) and ride of whilst the police are still waving their guns about. NONSENSE!!!!!!!!!

This is so bad that it can't even be considered trash, some trash movies have merit. This smorgasbord of soft core porn, sado masochism, dreadful acting and dialogue has no merit whatsoever.Once again Jason Statham plays.... himself, which in itself isn't such a bad thing. However in a film this rank the Statham persona(think of a plank of wood)just adds to the
overall 'badness' of the whole production. If you've got an hour and a half spare that you don't mind losing forever see it,everyone else, avoid.
Crank 2: High Voltage practically begs to be passionately loathed by absolutely everyone, with the notable exception of antisocial teenage boys. Its rank, nihilistic tone is relentless and exhausting. The misogyny is benchmark horrendous. The acts of violence are brutal, frequent and often blatantly homoerotic. Its flippant. Its homophobic. Its vulgar. And it feels as much seething contempt for its own narrative coherence as it does for its few prominent female characters.
But there is something bracingly brilliant about it. Films this fearlessly unhinged simply do not get made any more, and thirty years ago this would've played, late at night, to packed houses for years on end, perhaps aptly bundled with the likes of John Water's Pink Flamingoes.
One fact that was suggested by the first Crank is set heroically in stone barely five minutes into its sequel - that directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor appear to be completely obsessed with pornography. There is a truly jaw-dropping amount of flesh on constant display, and the film's only female speaking parts belong to a prostitute and a stripper. This lends the film an air of uncomfortable, almost lavatorial sleaziness, until a bunch of actual porn stars turn up in the middle of a scene, starring as a bunch of disgruntled porn stars striking for better pay. Although it hardly passes as satire, it does seem like a sly dig in the direction of the producers that populate the Hollywood mainstream, who'd surely relish the opportunity to make films like this if only the b*stard machine would let them. Balls-out exploitation it may be, but if any film lives up to cinema's ancient adage of providing its audience with relentless sex and violence, its this one.
The second half of the film is where it really flies, and chooses to disregard not only its own plot, but any care for the patience or expectations of its audience. It goes, essentially, mad. And for something that was clearly deranged in the first place, it'd be foolish for me not to offer up the only advice that will enable you to see exactly what I mean.
Go and see it.
This was laughable, it was so bad! Why was it made? It was not a good film, in fact the worst of 2009 so far. I gave it 2 stars coz Jason Statham was in it but the film was ridiculous. I wonder why he agreed to star in such a stupid sequel??!
For the first 2 reviewers:come on people, don't be silly and write reviews after you've watched the trailer and not the movie!
I actually preferred Crank 2 to the original, because I enjoyed the octane, frenetic, fast paced way the movie was shot, plus I also liked the bits of humour injected in the film throughout. Statham is looking far more pumped than ever, which I liked. But that's it. Crank 2 takes the viewer into the realms of ludicruous! (to begin with the fact that the ticker put in place of his heart would allow him to do all the strenuous stuff he did is not possible and certainly not believable, plus falling from a great height, leaves your brain to mush, and all he had replaced was his heart???!!! Anyway, the film has alot of unbelieveble stuff like that).
I do believe that this film has become sleazer: Eve spends the movie with dirty hair, Chev sticks a shot gun up a fat blokes back side, and the unnecessary scenes of nude or topless girls being shot, lots of close ups of girls busts and backsides as well as the silly scene of Chev and Eve having sex on the race track in the most laughable way, while being cheered on by the crowd.(tasteless, pointless and unnecessary). I am no prude, but this film has got a definite Sleaze feel to it!And it's right in your face!
The end was hurried with the credits still rolling. It clearly ushers in Crank 3, which I am not sure I am not going to watch. How can you possibly top a film that is best summarised as ludicrous and sleazy? More sleaze and silliness?I'll pass thanks, especially since the new instalment will see Chelios not looking his usual best!
Crank 2 has the same non-stop, fast-paced action, excitement, voilence, & surprise as the original. Although this sequel focuses on high-voltage electricity instead of adrenaline (literally) so it's not quite as fast as the first film was. It has original unique style of camera shots with creative use of words on screen/effects & is funny at times.
There are no limits to anything so don't take it seriously.
The only bad thing about it is that even though I really liked both of the Crank films, some of the intended jokes are very cheesy & could also be very offensive to some people so if you are easily offended then don't bother with it. I would suggest watching the trailer first if you're not sure but in the film itself there is very strong language.
If you don't mind bad language & can put up with the cheesy parts of the trailer then this & Crank 1 are very unique, original, exciting, fast-paced films with over-the-top action & Jason Statham doing what he does best.
Can't comment on the film because the Blu-Ray disc doesn't work in a normal player (Sony BDP-S350).
From searching on the internet it appears that it only works in a PS3 or in players that allow you to attach a 1GB SD memory card via a USB stick. I have neither so could not play the film.
Take this as a warning if you have a similar Blu-Ray player. Shame as I was looking forward to it. Suppose I'll have to wait until it appears on Sky.
