    Adrenaline packed action

On paper this film sounds rediculous but somehow it just works........actually it kicks ass!!!

Jason Stratham is great at what he does, a 21st century action hero, who is menacing but funny with it!!!

Crank does exactly what it says on the tin, a relentless, adrenaline packed movie where the action doesn't let up for a full 90 minutes, so don't be expecting an oscar worthy drama because that it ain't.

Very erratic editing and jumpy shooting add to the whole effect and keeps you transfixed as the lead manages to come up with increasingly inventive methods of keeping his ticker going!!!

I can fully understand why this film got the great reviews it did, because it never claims to be something its not.

Sit on the edge of your seat an enjoy 90 minutes of total escapism!!!

    Energetic and stylish....

    I really liked this.

I liked The Transporter in a cheesey kind of way (they call them Guilty Pleasures) and the from the trailer Crank seemed like it would be similar. Right from the very beginning I thought this was really good: original and fresh.

I knew a little bit about the premise and was suprised there wasn't some exposition at the beginning, but the lack of back story actually helped - it got straight into the action right off the bat and kept the momentum up all the way through.

The action sequences occurred naturally (and frequently) and didn't seem like the normal action movie set-pieces where the plot is just an inconvenient device to get from one major stunt to the next.

One of the best decisions made by the director was to not be over-ambitious. The stunts were neat and effective, the plot was simple, characters developed in their interactions with each other and their reactions to events. An excellent premise successfully supported this simplicity, but the nature of this premise did make choice about the ending difficult - handled adequately by the director.

I wouldn't describe Jason Statham as an action 'star' but he is definitely a solid performer in the genre. Amy Smart is introduced later but the character is really well written. She provides excellent counterpoint and some hilarious moments. The rest of the cast is more caricatured but definitley in a supporting role.

This movie had an impressive visual flair, elements of which have definitley been borrowed. The idiosyncratic style worked well and, tellingly, was not overused. The enrgy of this movie was fantastic. I will be eagerly looking out for future movies 'from the directors of Crank'.

Smart still pole dancing after Crank

    • 16 Apr 2009

Actress Amy Smart had such fun preparing to play a pole dancer in Crank sequel High Voltage, she has pledged to keep up her striptease lessons for her boyfriend. The star took a series of classes, found her perfect tune and then learned how to strip and tease at fellow actress Sheila Kelly's S Factor studio in Los Angeles - and now she's hooked. She tells WENN, "It was sexually liberating and really fun. It takes a lot of work to make it look easy. It's really awkward in the beginning but I... Read more
