Oh god oh god why did I bother? Being a Ballard fan, I read the book a while back and found it stupid & boring. I should've known not to bother.
Ok, so theres this bunch who get all hot under the collar about car crashes. One unknowingly-wouldn't you know it- ploughs into another one, killing her husband. Which she finds so damn irresistible that they're soon at it like rabbits without even a mention of the dead guy.
There follows 90 minutes of crashing/sex in crashes/beating off over torn upholstery/crashing/sex in crashes..you get the picture. If you don't find the thought of that a great basis for a film..then you'd be right on the money.
Amazingly enough, the cops dont even seem that bothered. In fact they're probably at it themselves. Half an hour in (as with the book) you'll be so sick of all the characters that you long for them all to kark it so you can get on with something else.
Ballard wrote plenty of decent books- why make a film out of the stinker?!
Avoid, please
