If you've read the book avoid this diabolical film! I can only assume the screenwriter didn't bother to actually read the book, or that the main character was too unpleasent for his delicate sensibilities. More likely is the idea that the studio didn't like the book and so why make the film!
Worth a viewing as it is surprisingly true to the story. If you want a lesson on why it is not a good idea to bash a couple of people to death this is it. Good to see a non-Hollywood, focus group filtered film, but shame about the spoken English with some sort of Russian accent, that made it sound a bit Monty Python-ish in parts
