[Highly rated reviewer]this dvd series is superb. criminal minds is very much like 'without a trace' and 'CSI', with a different case per episode.
the Behavourial Analysis Unit has a team of experts with unique abilities, headed by a complex, tortured and brilliant older man called Agent Gideon.
Mandy Patinkin plays Agent Gideon, an intense, quiet, but very talented criminal profiler, who puts together physical and psychological descriptions of criminals, by examining the crime scene.
most of the episodes, build up in intensity, until Gideon and his team identify and find the criminal, before he commits another crime, usually of arson, kidnapping or murder.
the episodes can be quite disturbing, as they deal with the worst kind of criminals.
Dr. Reed, who is played by Matthew Gray Gubler is one of my favourites, as although he is a genius in his chosen field, he is not a good communicator with ordinary people. you could say he lacks the social skills. this just goes to show, the human side of a character, as well as their genius.
well worth watching.

ExceptionalBy Squirrel (1 review) from East Lothian , 25 Jul 2007This has to be one of the best of the crime related series to come out of America.
Having seen all of series one and now watching series two on UK Living I have only been left dissapointed in one episode out of over 30!
Each main character has there own life stories going on throughout the series and add to this some exceptional storylines within the episodes and combined you have a most watchable crime series.
I would reccomend this series to anyone who like CSI, Blue Murder and Wire in the Blood.
Criminal Minds - Season 1By a customer from Jersey, Channel Islands , 24 Jul 2007Having missed a number of episodes from the first series, this is an excellent way to catch up.
The storylines are convincing and not too over the top and predicatable. OK a couple of the episodes are a little far fetched as to how they come up with the profiles and the fact that they almost always get their man or women, it would be nice to see them get it wrong once or twice.
Very entertaining (tongue in cheek)By Great Expectations from Leeds, West Yorkshire , 16 Jul 2007Got the first disc out and both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Don't take it too seriously though - it CAN be hilarious (all the better because I don't think it is intentional! and, on these occasions, put me in mind of Leslie Nielsen of 'Naked Gun' fame...but maybe that's just my warped sense of humour). All of these profilers are self-confessed 'geniuses' and keep correcting/undermining each others 'expert' opinions in 'clever' ways (in itself a hoot). It is peppered with quotations from great minds too imbetween key scenes - something of a blast and great if you're just going down the pub and feel the need to impress (or happen to be teaching the next day and want additional 'ammo' in your back pocket to stun students with). It has a formulaic structure but is still highly enjoyable if you like watching boffins predicting and, ultimately undermining psycopathic low life. We will definitely continue to watch - it really is a welcome respite from UK TV and has enough of a storyline (and well filmed - money has been spent on it) plus the 'laughs' to provide a good night's entertainment in front of the box.
Criminal Minds - a guilty pleasureBy Alexandmike (13 reviews) from London , 05 Jun 2007This show is so much fun. You may find yourself laughing out loud at the most inappropriate moments, but it has an incredibly strong lead in Mandy Patinkin, who is so subtle and powerful that his character is all you want to see on the screen. The plots occasionally verge on the ridiculous and some of the supporting characters are a bit annoying, but when it's good, it's great!
It's a brave move of the producers to make the show far more about plot than about character, and sometimes it suffers from that, but with such an invested performance from Patinkin, you can forgive it even the really annoying IT woman... A truly guilty pleasure. You'll get hooked, but won't want to tell too many people about it...
Good qualityBy a customer from Birmingham, England , 04 Jun 2007This is a great box set, thrilling, edge of your seat stuff, if you like thrillers, crime you have to watch this!
