Lacking the tragic resonance and strong performances of its Hammer-styled predecessor, director Tim Pope's sequel, again based on James O'Barr's cult Gothic comic strip, plays like an extended pop video and quickly becomes a rock-blasting, S&M-posturing endurance test.
