    Nailing the Zeitgeist

1980's 'Cruisin'' saw Al Pacino take a risky career move to play a straight cop plunged into the late 70's gay SM/Leather scene of New York to investigate a serial killer murdering gay men in seedy locales.

His powerful performance won him great acclaim and this film takes it rightful place amongst Pacino's long list of great performances.

It's a little dated , but truly nails the Zeitgeist of both NYC and the seedy beginnings of New Yorks' now well-healed and widely respected gay community.

Indie-music fans look out for a breif glimpse of Carol Pope and Rough Trade in the nightclub scenes. Their raunchy rough beats and sexually charged lyrics provide a great atmosphere to this dark and gritty film.
