Hong Kong-style action meets James Bond in this beautifully crafted adaptation of the cult Japanese comic strip. Enigmatic Mark Dacascos plays the latest in a long line of human killing machines programmed by the Sons of the Dragon Society to respond to hypnotic signals. Because he sheds a tear after each contract killing, he earns the nickname “Crying Freeman”. How he keeps his identity a secret fuels a cranked-up plot packed with inventive explosions, balletic gunplay, hyperkinetic stunts and forbidden love. This is a visually arresting and fresh slant on the usual comic-book capers.

    Live action manga

Very good live action version and for a change this keeps a lot of story and visuals from the manga/anime.

Lots of action, good SFX. Mark Dacascos is Freeman and look out for him in Drive and Brotherhood of the Wolf.

    Tough action movie

Under-rated effort featuring Mark Dacascos which is well worth a watch, much better than many of the contemporary 'straight-to-video' efforts of Van Damme or Seagal.
