In this sci-fi thriller, six strangers wake up to find themselves in a 14ft by 14ft cube. When they try to get out they find they are snared in a seemingly endless maze of interlocking cubicles armed with lethal booby traps. How did they get there? Why have they been incarcerated? Director Vincenzo Natali's extraordinary debut feature takes a unique idea and milks its potential to the maximum with panache and visual dexterity. Genuinely creepy and gory, with the discernible influence of David Cronenberg, this puzzler is awash with bold ideas and unsettling tension.

    Low budget, high quality

It has to be said, if you can't afford special effects and huge sets you have to think really hard about everything else. That is evident here. This film was clearly made for less than my credit card bill and is very very good with it.

Moody, surprising, very well shot and with an excellent set of players. Despite a very simple idea, this film is never dull or predictable. Good stuff. (The gore is suprisingly.. well, gory for a 15 certificate though... Just a wee word of caution.)

Low on special effects and plot, but still decent enough

A bunch of strangers awaken to find themselves trapped in a cube riddled with booby traps. An excellent idea, which wasn't really boosted with a decent plot. Without giving away the ending, it is a bit thin on the ground with storyline, until you kind of get the picture by the end of the film.

Acting isn't good at times either, but something about it, makes it worth a watch.

I can't say exactly what it is, but I didn't feel that it was too bad a film by then end of it, and at no point did I want to turn it off. I would watch it again, despite a few negatives, and would prob reccommend it to others.

It was maybe just gripping drama, waiting to see what the storyline actually was, and who would actually make it out alive, if anyone.

So, if you take this out, you probably won't be disappointed, and it won't be a wasted selection, but I wouldn't say it was excellent either, and could have been a bit better?!?
