Czech Please!!By Stephen Daniels from Swindon , 03 Nov 2005
[Highly rated reviewer]This docu-film is superb! i needn't say anymore.... but i will! The two students who set up this 'scam' hadn't really thought about the consequences of their actions and despite people left right and centre telling them this is morally wrong, they continue anyway! the big difference between this and other docu-films is that nearly always the prankster ends up as the winner! it is debatable as to whether or not this is the case. I won't spoil anything but the ending made the film great in my opinion! the parallels made between the government of the czech republic and these two budding film makers is hilarious and the film making is superb, giving an insight into czech culture as well as building the momentum of the story / event! i am not usually a fan of this type of film, however a movie magazine i buy, said that this is 'a film you should see before you die!' i agree! See it and you'll understand what i mean! riveting stuff!

Commercial Advertising and Human NatureBy a customer from Cardiff , 13 Jan 2007Subtitled as the first czech reality show, this documentary, made by two czech filmmakers/students is about advertising campaign to open a fictitous supermarket they call the Czech Dream. On the beginning of their journey they dress up as managers and produce advertising campaign that brings around 2000 people towards the place of the just about to be opened supermarket. People's reactions will tell you a lot about ourselves and the film as a whole shows the overpowering strenth of todays adveritising. Won't be disappointed...
Cesky SenBy g5 (48 reviews) from Bournemouth , 22 Jul 2006This film was maybe too long, but the inevitable climax was enjoyable and really emotional nonetheless.
The Czech and Slovak people seem to have an inherited pessimism in them and this just fueled the fire.
Nice little prank - even the trailer isn't trueBy bachgencaerdyd (22 reviews) from Cardiff , 10 Jun 2006Was it just a prank on a unsuspecting public or was it a grand statement on post-communist society ?
Personally, I thought they wanted to pull a simple prank. They've must have spent a fortune and some effort to create a marketing campaign but when a supermarket offers cheap televisions and cameras, there's no doubt that people are going to turn up.
Amusing, thought provoking, but also a little sadBy a customer from Chester, UK , 25 Apr 2006I agree with most of what other reviewers have said. However, I was not so concerned about the poor people being duped (they did not have to buy anything, as as some said in a positive response, they had a nice day out with the family in gorgeous weather !), until they talked about jars of pickles it was not possible to get anymore.
For some reason I found this very sad. The Czechs are obviously pleased to have moved on from Communism and to be able to buy 'stuff', but it is shocking just how many times the name of a certain gigantic British supermarket company is mentioned in this flim. Those jars of pickles that were advertised in the fake advertising leaflet seemed a much crueller con than TV's and DVD's at super low prices. I don't won't to be patronising, but I did feel very sorry for everybody featured in the film, even the 'knowing' advertisers. Perhaps it is us Brits I should be feeling sorry for.
media mayhemBy simon tuck from exmouth, devon , 03 Apr 2006in the time we live in (reality telly) this fits in really well. ok get beyond the subtitles and you have a film (which i didnt laugh once - even though it is meant to be 'hilarious') that is truely one for media students and those interested in how people are seriously duped! even the advertisers get cold feet as they realise they are part of influencing people. they are even feeling they should pull out.. admittedly i dont remember ordering this movie from screendirect but i enjoyed it. surely people cant be duped like this can they? sure over 3000 people turn up and it all turns nasty. watch it with horror and then ask yourself how am i influenced. hmmm. not everyones cup of tea!
