WONDERFUL!
By a customer from PLYMOUTH UK , 06 Mar 2006[Highly rated reviewer]
'The Cost of Living' was shot on location in Cromer on the Norfolk Coast in England: a typical, old-fashioned and faded seaside resort. The summer season has petered to an end and an air of desertion hangs over the town. Eddie and David are disillusioned street performers. Eddie is tough, confrontational and not afraid to defend his belief in justice and honesty. David is a dancer who has no legs; watching him makes you reconsider accepted notions of perfection. He is quietly determined not to let his disabilities or society's prejudices get in his way. A series of inter-linking scenes shows how Eddie and David negotiate life, fall in and out of relationships and survive day to day.
The dance sequences are innovative, extraordinarily clever and one in particular, beautiful!- Was this review helpful to you?

(4)DV8 - Genius!
By a customer from Leicestershire , 13 Nov 2008Shear Brilliance!
Touching, visually stunning, beautiful dance and such clever choreography and photography. Brilliant acting and the most AMAZING TALENT. Can't praise them enough. Just one complaint though: the scene with David dancing on the hill - where the other dancers join in is far TOO SHORT. Could have watched that for hours. Thank you DV8.- Was this review helpful to you?

Superb
By a customer from london , 01 Jun 2006I confess that I write as someone who already thinks that Lloyd Newson is a genius. (for the record, I've never met him and he's not paying me.)
If you know Lloyd Newson's work, you won't hesitate, you'll want a copy in your library. If you've never seen his work before, don't hesitate, check it out asap.
I could rabbit on for ages, but suffice it to say that, even though it's only threequarters of an hour long, it packs an emotional punch way over it's weight.- Was this review helpful to you?
