Even if Dad's Army isn't the greatest situation comedy - which it very probably is! - it's still the most consistent. By the third series, the first in colour, it was beginning to get into its stride as the brilliant characters became fully developed. This series certainly had its share or memorable episodes - 'Something Nasty In The Vault,' 'Sons Of The Sea,' 'Menace From The Deep' to name but three.
I can't understand why it's taken the BBC so long to get round to issuing this classic series properly on DVD. There were only two paltry 'best of' collections featuring just ten episodes for years, while vastly inferior comedies flourished. It's also taken them some time to issue this third series after the first release of series 1/2. Let's hope it doesn't take them too long to release the remaining six series!
