Totalling 77 episodes and three Christmas specials during its nine-year run, Dad's Army remains one of the best loved of all British comedy series. As with so many other TV spin-offs, the producers couldn't resist the temptation of tinkering with the winning formula, and here we are treated to a Nazi invasion of Walmington-on-Sea that is somewhat at odds with the cosy incompetence that made the series so irresistible. Nevertheless, this is still great fun and it's always a pleasure to see such gifted character actors at work.

    Best of British

Classic gentle, comedy for all the family.

No matter how often I watch Dad's Army I always find something that I have missed before. Call me sad, but they don't make them like this any more.

    Golden Classic

British Comedy at its very best. The walmington platoon from the start of their illustrious military history.

One to watch for anyone who appreciates good, classic humour.
