    [Highly rated reviewer]

This is a ' recent DVD Release' of a 1991 film. This Hindi version is an 'audio-dubbed' remake of the 'source film': 1991 Tamil - THALAPATHI [Titled in English as 'Commander' which is more appropriate than 'Leader' as in the Hindi version!].

The songs, crafted by the Maestro: Ilayaraajah are a delight in both versions. Not surprisingly, a song from the Tamil version was chosen as Number 4 on 'BBC World Service. 2002. BBC World Service 70th Anniversary Global Music Poll: The World's Top Ten'. [Interestingly the Number 5 was also a Tamil one, from the Tamil Tiger Film 'Mugungal' about the Tamil plight in Sri Lanka.] Full details of all 10, and audio are available on the 'BBC World Service, US features, Top Ten'.

Rajanikath is a very populat Artiste with a huge following, and a 1995 Tamil film [Titled in English!]: THREE MEN ARMY - 'A comedy romance' - had 'extracts' from Thalapathi for obvious reasons!
