Not a boring courtroom drama - It's intelligent and addictive!

*** Watch this if you like intelligent & twisting storylines. ***

The best new TV drama I have seen since the ‘Wire’.

It is excellent value as disc 1&2 contain 5 episodes each of approx 40mins.

I saw this nominated @ the Golden Globe’s so decided to rent it. Glenn Close and Ted Danson had lead roles, had seen and liked Glenn in ‘The Shield’, and Ted in ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’.

After the 2nd Episode I was hooked. Truly an impressive cast, and an addictive storyline. Very intelligent. The pilot pretty much starts to lay out the characters for you, and the basis for how this one case will fill out the whole series. Yes, .this is a whole series about one, high action law suit.

The remarkable thing is that even though this is about lawsuits… we never (and this isn’t a spoiler) even get into a courtroom! So if you are put off by thinking it’s all boring legal court stuff, please don’t be. There are so many twists and turns, so many shocks, you will find it hard not to want to watch each episode back -to-back. It doesn’t give you any catch-ups at the beginning of each episode. It’s up to you to stay with it as it pulls you along through the many characters lives and actions. It does however have a brilliantly clever way of flashing backwards and forwards to give you insight and depth to why each person acts the way they do.

Ted Danson’s eyes give a brilliant mystery to him. Is he an evil man, doing what he can to be on top? Or he’s good at heart, surrounded by bad advice and equally bad actions?

Zeljko Ivanek is someone I had seen before in prison drama ‘OZ’. He plays a magnificent part in this supporting role as a defence lawyer. Again, the brilliant script keeps you wondering what he truly is, good or evil. How he battles with his own emotions towards the end of the series, and the flash backs to what he has done in the past, for me, is one of the best parts as this storyline unravels.

Glenn Close, as I said, I had seen her in a series of ‘The Shield’. Another very strong performance from her. I guess the series revolves around her as this always winning case’s lawyer. What wouldn’t she do to win a case? What lows will she sink to? Can doing wrong really be justified for the greater good?

Will there be a 2nd season? I hope so. If there is then I assume it would be fair to say the ending of season 1 tells us what season 2 will be about. Will there be room for Ted Danson in a 2nd Season?

    A thrilling and unmissable series

Damages Series 1 is a compelling 13-part drama based on a highly-confidential and perilous law-suit against a billionaire tycoon.

Glenn close leads a stunning cast who, like the plot, are clouded in mystery and not as first appears. Some of the leading lawyers are so inexplicably two faced it's a enigmatic and riveting rollercoaster through a simularly loopholed and lethal law suit. I am fan of CSI and Lost, but I have never experienced such a brilliantly diverse and executed plot in a long time.

It's difficult to get into at first, but stick with it and enjoy.

    Pull Your Teeth Out.

Yes, pulling your teeth out is more entertaining than Damages.Which is unfortunate, as it is well cast. The problem lies in the fact that a television show coming under the genre of drama in my opinion should be dramatic. I should admit that I only managed to struggle through to episode seven before hitting the eject button, possibly missing out on Emmy award winning tv... BUT I DOUBT IT.

If you are looking to be entertained and don't want dentures watch BOSTON LEGAL it's AWESOME

    Gripping!

I couldn't stop watching, there are a lot of great twists in this series and the story is gripping. Glenn Close puts in a fantastic performance as the sinister Patty Hewes and Ted Danson is also very convincing as the show's villain, Arthur Frobisher. 'Damages' is a must-see!
