This is the film that catipulted Miranda Richardson to public acclaim. Before she was queenie in Blackadder she was Ruth Ellis. Her performance in this film is quite spellbinding. She captures the insecurity lying underneath the peroxide and all that bravado. You feel for her as she loses control and you know she can't stop her life careering toward its doom. This film is worth watching for her performance alone.

About the reviewer: arwsto

I am a slighly decaying mancunian with a love of films as well as TV programmes that take me back to my childhood. I have been an actor and writer. I appeared in an award winning amateur film and many years ago wrote a prize winning play.
