Dandelion Dead

"Dandelion Dead" is the a dramatisation of the true story of Major Herbert Armstrong, a solicitor equally proud of his work in the justice system as he was of his beloved garden. Life seemed good for Herbert, a respected solicitor with a country estate, the love of his three children and a devout pride in both his life and his garden. But Armstrong, pillar of the local community, was also a man at war. He was in conflict on three fronts: he fought regular battles against his domineering and unstable wife, Katherine; he had regular skirmishes with his bright and ambitious business rival, Oswald Martin: and waged a war against the dandelions that colonised his treasured lawn. These dandelions were to lead to one of the most celebrated murder trials in British legal history.

    Customer Review

There are many well-known actors, including Michael Kitchen, Sarah Miles, Peter Vaughan and Bernard Hepton, in this classy production that was originally a TV series from the early 90s. It is, I believe, based on a true case of murder by arsenic poisoning that happened early in the last century.

The story is broken into approximately 30 minute parts that tend to end of a bit of a cliff-hanger--a relic of its TV origins. The series comprises two DVDs. The only disadvantage of renting is that you might have to wait to get the second disc. I had to wait about 2 months and had to remember what had happened up to the half-way mark. But the back-story did come back to mind after a few minutes.

    DANDELION DEAD

Good film made more interesting by the fact that it is a true story. Fine acting by a strong cast kept the interest until the end. The eldest daughter was particularly impressive.
