The wonderful cast and George Eliot's dramatic novel guarantees that you will want to watch this in one sitting. Fortunately, all episodes are on this single disc. Enjoy!

  • A great Victorian drama

I loved this adaptation. I haven't read the book so can't comment on what was left out or changed, but the acting and locations were terrific. The storyline is one which resonates into the 20th century. Watched it through in one sitting, which was unusual for me!

The most memorable thing for me was the ending. It was so sudden, I had to question if I had fallen asleep!

For me it has a great cast but not a strong enough story line for a period drama. I was dissapointed.

  • Oh dear Daniel - What a disappointment

I give this 3 stars for the costumes and acting throughout although Hugh Bonneville who gave a very good impression of a plank. Regrettably the story was very weak and I really couldn't see what the fuss was all about. There was no 'bite' to it and I lost interest by the middle of episode 2. I did watch the final episode and what a disappointment. Daniel found out he was a Jew. So what? If my mother had made me go to Genoa to be told that I would have not been too pleased, a letter would have sufficed. What is it with the BBC with these costume dramas?
