The novel from which this TV movie was taken is a classic example of a Danielle Steel potboiling melodrama. Once such women's pictures were a Hollywood staple, attracting stars of the calibre of Joan Crawford and Barbara Stanwyck. Eva LaRue may not be in their league, but she suffers nobly here as the Italian wife of an American army officer who's frozen out of the family by hellish mother-in-law Angie Dickinson. Directed with exemplary overstatement by Bethany Rooney, this is undemanding escapism of the tear-jerking kind.
This is the usual elements find in Danielle Steel's: love, betrayal and of course a very happy ending. Good view for those who appreciate a loving romance.
