I absolutely love a good psychological movie, the kind that leaves you questioning exactly what is going on, and when the big ending is revealed and the penny finally drops you could kick yourself for not seeing it sooner. Be warned, THIS is not one of those movies.
I had high expectations for this--a good friend recommended it--and it started out extremely well. The first half hour was entertaining and suggested some intriguing possibilities for where this story could lead. We were introduced to some interesting characters ie/ the neighbour, the 'online' predator she dreamed her daughter was talking to--which could have tied in nicely with the 'murdered' girl--and the sons girlfriend. Then suddenly it just fell apart, and no longer made sense. It felt like the writers lost interest/became lazy and thought they would tag this 'interesting' ending on that would make everyone say WTF? And they did, except it's not a good WTF--as in 'Sixth Sense' style--but more where did that pile of crap/abrupt turn in direction come from?!
This movie had great potential, yet failed miserably. Very disappointing.
