Witches, Warlocks and Tropical islands?
By a customer from Yorkshire , 24 Mar 2008[Highly rated reviewer]
Okay first of all I will start with the good points. I was so glad they made a second series of Dante's Cove and that it has more episodes than the first series. The new episodes are just under an hour which is perfect, thats if you can limit yourself to one episode of course! The cast has expanded allot with more depth and side stories for the other characters. The men are great eye candy and there are even more hot love scenes. The story goes deeper into the witchcraft background and more people are involved than we first thought. Grace the Witch has a bigger role this time and plays the character much better than series one. Another new character is Diana who is a welcome addition and adds a little mystery to the show.
On the down side there has been a few too many changes for my liking. They have an entirely different Hotel Dante which has turned into a very modern looking luxury holiday complex... The building has no atmosphere now and no creepy wooden staircases or strange cellars. The straight friend of Toby is an entirely new actor - this could have gone in the good points as he is hotter. In fact they seem to have got rid of many of the residents we had only just been introduced to in series one which is very confusing. Suddenly Dante's Cove turns out to be an island and a pretty big one at that! Where are the noises in the night, where are the ghosts wandering about? Why is it all shot in sunny daylight? With the new big budget and glamourous locations somebody has forgotten what made this series so original - its supposed to be a gay horror series!
Overall its total escapism and a must watch anyway. But im really hoping series three brings back the creepy atmosphere.- Was this review helpful to you?

What a complete load of tosh
By Amf (28 reviews) from High Wycombe , 28 Sep 2009I tried. I really tried. I kept hold of this for months determined to eventually watch it all. I couldn't do it. I watched 10 minutes of toe curling, cring worthy acting with apparently no story line and I'm afraid that was enough for me.- Was this review helpful to you?
