This is a great story about heaven and hell, betrayal and redemption. Its visually stunning with outstanding voice overs as Dante travels through the nine circles of Hell, limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery. If I was to criticize, it does lose it way briefly in the second half and because it has so many directors the animation style does change a number of times. Overall its a rollercoaster ride to the center of HELL.

Lots of shouting, mindless gore and violence coupled with a plot so full of holes it makes the Titanic look seaworthy. Essentially this is one of those multi-studio projects that everyone awaits with baited breath, but then fails to deliver. What you actually get is a mismatched bunch of sequences with very different animation styles that are barely held together by a very weak plot. In the end, I couldn't care about any of the characters and also felt very confused as to why certain things happened (I won't give anything away). Then I found out it's an adaptation of a computer game! Had I known that last little nugget, I really would have run a mile.

This film is dull. You will not enjoy it. There are far more better films out there - iche the killer, akira, ghost in the shell, vampire D, dead space, bepo etc.

This was an ambitious project using some big name producers that simply has not worked when the complete package was presented. Although it was different sections done by different producers (like the Animatrix) it is presented as a complete film and needs to be treated as such.

There are so many things wrong with Inferno it is hard to now where to begin, but a start on the most glaring thing is the animation. As far as the animation goes it ranges from adequate stuff you would see in an anime series to lazy animation so bad it reminded me of late 80's low budget animation like Violence Jack.

The glaring thing for me was the change between Dante and Virgil, they constantly change appearance throughout the film with no qualification, Dante going from being stick thin to a muscled beefcake without any prior explanation. This happens at least 5 times.

Moving on to the dialogue it is a promising start (the first 5-6 lines) and then it begins, and from the first utterance of 'Beatrice' things go downhill, with an extraordinary 20 minutes of the film when BEATRICE is mentioned no less than 25 times, it seemed like sometimes in place of the plot they simply inserted the word Beatrice just in case we forgot why he was there.

At times this film was dark and gritty, at other times it was completely stupid and ranks as one of the worst anime films I have ever seen.

5 films for the price of one. Great idea to have different directors for each section. Truly a feast for the eyes and interesting in how each aspect was reinterpreted along a similar theme. Some areas were better than others but a joy to wacth for any anime fan.

It's ok but the game is way better. The main reason for the low rating is cause of the animation style changing, it got a little confusing at times, also the story is to crammed together in this, would have been better as a series with each circle being an episode, this would have also made the animation changes better aswell.
