Should I be surpised?
By a customer from England, London , 16 Oct 2008[Highly rated reviewer]
The reason for my heading is that yet again the BBC has turned out a gem in the lesbian genre. Other companies out there should look at their formula and realize why it works - simply put it is not all about sex for a movie to be classified as lesbianism. I'm a huge fan of period drama sort of movies and this definitely fits that category. The storyline was unknown to me and thus fascinating, the acting as everyone agrees was superb (I agree about McTeer) and again, although the scenes again could be more intense it doesn't distract from the overall beauty and impact of this movie. Well worth the watch whether you are gay or straight and let's hope the BBC brings out the next one soon!- Was this review helpful to you?

(8)An interesting watch
By Manth (7 reviews) from Lancaster , 20 Sep 2011A really interesting film that keeps you guessing. The historical aspects are well placed for a situation that could easily occur in the modern day.- Was this review helpful to you?

A 30s movie
By jjjosie (15 reviews) from Manchester , 03 Oct 2009This movie shows us the eternal hunt of human love. A very good expression of the 'I want what I can't have' and how some people can't have what it's offered and how sometimes they don't let go what's offered. All this in the 30s environment.- Was this review helpful to you?

Mostly Dull
By Geoffers (85 reviews) from Shrewsbury , 04 Jul 2009This turgid BBC drama is only enlivened by the occasional reasonably sexy lesbian love scene.- Was this review helpful to you?
