LA Confidential it aint...

If you like James Ellroy, hard-boiled author of LA Confidential, Black Dahlia etc it's worth checking out Dark Blue. He wrote the story on which the screenplay is based and there are familiar themes there: Police corruption, racism and murder. Bad men doing bad things. Unfortunately the film is just your average cop movie - all mullets and machismo... but moments of Ellroy shine through in the script. 'Let's go get those sh*tbirds!'
