    [Highly rated reviewer]

Almodovar's 3rd feature shows a stylistic progression that's light years from the crudity of his first, 'Pepi Luci Bom'. But this account of loose nuns getting up to all sorts of behaviour not normally associated with nuns proves to be just as wayward as its subjects. There's an undisciplined talent at work here but, in this early stage, it's too scattershot to be truly entertaining.

this is a bit out dated now - plots is too shallow and not many funny bits -suggest you choose something else

Brilliant. A totally unique film that I'd recommend. It's a bit like Sister Act on acid. And without Whoopi Goldberg being annoying.

What a strange and original film Dark Habits is! The viewer is taken into a parallel universe where the extraordinary becomes the norm. Conventional morals are unconsciously ejected by the inhabitants of the Convent of the Hopeless Redemption, where the sisters have taken on the habits of the women they purport to save and life in the cloister carries on as if that is what you do - drug addiction - LSD trips- drug dealing-desecration of the sacred rituals where spiritual reading sounds like the porn that one nun writes as a creative outlet. There is a strong and beautifully acted scene of sensual desire.

From the outside, it is a society in decline but on it seems to go!

  • Not nuns on the run

It's not the British take on 'fun with nuns' comedy à la Robby Coltrane - when Almodovar does fun with nuns doing unlikely things (pet tigers and drug habits) it has a punch too - or it did, in post-Franco Spain.

OK, so it isn't the best Almodavar ever - but he's always worth watching.

I expected this to be a comedy of some sort, i was wrong! Really it's about Nun's pinning up in their convent! Terrible film and made me uncomfortable to watch.
