Drastically edited down from an original 150 minute version, this TV-movie remake still can't compare to the classy 1939 Bette Davis/George Brent version. Elizabeth Montgomery stars as a cancer-stricken TV producer with no time for a personal life, who falls for the doctor who discovers the seriousness of her condition. While competent, she's not in Davis's class and director Robert Butler's funereal pacing doesn't help matters. Anthony Hopkins surpasses the efforts of Brent, playing the solicitous doctor, but it's hardly a stretch for him.
