This was a very enjoyable space shooter game. Lots of different missions and a good amount of game play length. You can customise you spaceship completely too depending on your game style, i personally went for the warship and armed it to the teeth which meant great fun destorying pirates and enemy cruisers. Tons of good sidequests also as well terminal missions you can choose to do to earn extra money to buy improvements for your spaceship. Several different elements in the game the further you get into it too. It starts off a little slow but builds up and gets quicker the more you advance your vessel, much like a lot of rpg's. If anybody remembers elite and similar games from years gone by and enjoyed them then they will love this.

Overall - some grinding needs to be done to make sure you vessel is tough enough but aiming for new upgrades and weapons makes it worth it. Plus it takes a decent amount of time to play and so is worth renting or buying. I wont spoil it for anyone but there were a few bits which reminded me of a couple of films :-)

  • Sadly Disappointing

This has the potential to of been a good game but is lacking in so many areas. The repetativeness of the tasks becomes tedious even after a few minutes of playing. The lay out of the HUD is subtle and sometimes hard to see. Not being able to switch to alternative 'playable' view points does make it more challanging, but it does come across as though this game was released before it was actually finished. With a few tweaks here and there it could of been a good game

Didn't last long, not impressed, only reason this could go into rpg section, is that you upgrade your ship, but you do not leave the ship. Control's are awful, and it is like handling a sack of spud's.

I've been playing this game for less than an hour & I can't stand it. The graphics are awful, the gameplay & controls are so boring & annoying. I'm going to continue playing it but its too bad to actually enjoy. Avoid this game if youre a sensible person.

  • A BIG GAME BUT NOT A CLASSIC

    Rated - 4.0 stars

first off...this game is huge!! after the tutorials there is a lot of things to do. You can be a pirate, a smuggler, trader, mercenary etc its up to you or you can plow through the really long story.

i really enjoyed playing the game but there are a few small niggles though. the main one being graphics wise. while the actual gameplay and flying through space looked nice enough the cut scenes and character models were strictly ps1 at best. i know you shouldnt judge a game by graphics but this did take away a bit of the enjoyment.

then theres the voice acting. all of it. not good. also it can get a bit repetative flying to a system doing the same bits then off to another while shooting a few enemies in between but that can be broken up with a bit of piracy or smuggling.

my main gripe though is the the games ending. i dont want to give anything away but iff you play through this you will know what i mean when i say it all went a bit too much like a classic sci-fi movie ;)

in summary...a good game that could have been better.

  • Good Space action trader

Isn't it funny that all space trading sims get compared to Elite :-)

A classic game but hardly up to date enough to compare now. Also didn't you just love elite 2 at the time (i'm sure it sucks now)

Anyway, this game is the classic. start off with a simple ship and go out and do what you want... A bit different than most though as instead of buying a better ship you upgrade the one that you have with some alien technology.

It is more action than the X series of games think more Freelancer. So if you enjoyed Freelancer or Privateer 2 then you should like this.

Also found it funny that it took about 3 years after the release on PC for this to appear on Xbox. I played it on PC first and I think it worked well on both, and did not look bad for a 3 year old game on xbox release....
