This film is great fun and a marvellous example of Sam Raimi at his best. He manages to mix comedy and horror together like nobody else and somehow it just works. I particularly enjoyed the corny, comic-book style dialogue and the clever use of slap-stick to emphasise the fact that we really are in fantastical fictional territory. You can almost see the graphic novel unfold before you. Has a real touch of Phantom of the Opera about it too. Watch out for the brief appearance of Bruce Campbell. Classic Raimi.
