HIP-HOP AT THE TOP!

Being a fan of Chappelle I rented this thinking it was a film version of his TV show, I was wrong. Instead what I found was a musical docu-film kinda thing. I was surprised to find the film highly entertaining even though it was a hip-hop gig and I can't say I'm the biggest fan, but as a music lover it was excellent, especially the performances in the second half of the film.
So, if you’re a hip-hop fan - Rent this! If you’re a live concert fan - Rent this! , But if your looking for a Comedy - Don't Bother!- Was this review helpful to you?

NOT a poor cousin to Rize

It was not by David LaChapelle the photographer who did 'Rize' (which is also a brilliant doc) It is David Chapelle the comedian who has a love of Hip Hop and great music. Hip Hop as a culture has been raped over the last 10 years and documentaries like these are invaluable to keep the true meaning of it alive.- Was this review helpful to you?

Poor cousin to Rize

Block party doesn't really seem to be other than a lazily shot diary of how he organises what looks to be a pretty poor block party.
