David Cassidy was a musical hero for many fourteen year olds of the early 1970s. I worshipped him, as a solo performer and a member of the Partridge Family. This CD saw Cassidy work his way through a number of old favourites, as a performer who has lived through almost three decades of pop. For me, the performance failed to live up to expectations, not least because the opportunity was missed to explore the ways in which a teen idol comes to present and represent the archetypal experiences and emotional ambitions of an entire generation. Worth a viewing, but mainly for the nostalgia.
