David Starkey has done a fine job in this sudy of the origins of the monachy in Britain .
Covering a period from the fall of the Roman rule to Henry VI, Starkey keeps the story moving at quite a pace but still manages to communicate in his almost school masterly manner, the details of how our monachy evolved.
Although this is not a multi million pound production the series has some interesting re-enactments which give life to Starkey's narrative.
Overall a good, entertaining and educational prodution.
One of the best monarch documentaries I've seen. Not too in depth that it becomes boring, but enough detail to make a really interesting presentation.
If you are looking for thorogh factual history David Starkey fits the bill. His approach is serious and in-depth and historically comprehensive as to be expected from the eminent historian.
Having read several of his works, the ducmentary is an excellent addition, having missed the series when aired on Channel 4.
Definitely a must for history enthusiasts.

once again mr starkeys descriptions and historically correct information on our beginings of our kings and queens i found gripping,He pulls you into his historical world and tells it as it is warts n all about the sometimes brutal and distrubing start in history of our monarchy. Mr starkey, always makes you want to sit up and take notice of the rise and fall of different kings and queens, my 14 year old son watched disc 1 with me and rally liked it. I can't wait for disc 2 even though i know a lot about the monarchy, i loved history at school, because mr starkey makes you want to know more. well done once more for a good series 10/10!!!!
