This adaptation would have been so much better if they had stuck closer to the source material. Updating a classic is fine but if you introduce plot holes in the process then it seems counter productive. The original novel was very tightly written with no obvious plot holes, highly believable and very chilling. All this is thrown away in exchange for a more fast paced and action packed monster movie.

Read the novel or watch the previous 1980s effort by the BBC which was already a near perfect adaptation.

Watched it before. Now I know why I didn't remember it. I still prefer the old version of this classic

For a starter this has been made by the BBC, So if you enjoy your supernatural Drama on BBC & ITV then you could like this.

It doesn't have much similarity to the original Film, So forget about that, but if you do want a taster of the Triffids and a different spin on it then this is quite a good film, its split in to 2 parts both 90 each,

All cast play a good part for a TV movie and there is some quality actors in this.

  • Awful, awful

This is a truly dreadful film, and should be avoided at all costs. It's boring, obviously made on a shoestring, and so replete with cliches that it should be a case study for years to come. Quite what actors of the calibre of Scott, Richardson and Izzard are doing in it is a mystery and they must have been horrified at the result. It makes Hollywood disaster movies looks positively Shakespearean.

The Triffids are themselves are laughable, and lack any sense of menace. The CGI scenes are disappointing although the scene in which Scott and Richardson casually watch from a motorway bridge while a gang of what look like over-sized artichokes sift through a few crashed cars made me smile grimly for about half a second.

Totally unbelievable, in the worst sense of the word. Really disappointing.

To be avoided at all costs, but if you absolutely must then don't say you weren't warned. Watch it and wince !

I think they adaptded it well.

Obviously, everyone knows the story very well and so I think it was a good thing to change it slightly, makes it a bit fresher.

    Good acting too.
