in fact i think i would probably go as far as saying, this is one of the best films i have seen in years.....full stop. now i understand its not going to be everyones cup of tea, but for those out there who like a great film with some good old fashioned brit-grit watch it! it's one of those films where you dont quite know what to do with yourself after it. i mean i watched this film and thought it was great 3 days after watching it, i thought it was amazing - reason being, i kept on thinking about it, it kept on coming back into my head, i think i was a bit traumatised by it to be honest, but if that isnt the sign of a good film i dont know what is.

full of grit and grim, very good acting, and a bit of humor thrown in....watch this!

Easily in the top 10 films I've ever seen. A brilliant piece of British Cinema. Could almost says it's the British Taxi Driver. A gritty, touching revenge movie. Well worth seeing!

One of the best Brit films in years with performances from both considine and kebble to rival anyone. Disturbing emotional and totally believable.

Watching about 5 films a week has been my intake for some years now. To say this would go straight into my top 5 of all time is no mean feat. It contains humour, insight, emotion and a depth that very few films nowadays can get anywhere near, or sustain for the complete length. Paddy Consadine is terrifying and tender in equal amounts. The relationship between him and his brother is gut wrenching. A beautiful dignified film.

  • Will leave you unsettled - mark of a good film I say!

I cannot say how moving this film is. It is the ultimate revenge film but with layer upon layer of tangled relationships and emotions. Paddy Considine has always been a bit of a favourite of mine and this film shows you why. He can turn on terror in a breathe which makes this film not for the faint hearted! The pain and shame woven through this film makes you care about Andrew deeply and helps you understand Richards drive. Brilliant acting by all and only didn't get five stars because I don't believe any film could be perfect - this one comes very close though!

  • Best Revenge film

Like a few of the reviews say this is an awesome film! I do like the odd revenge movie here or there but it's not everyday that you find one that's not full of gratuitous violence. Don't get me wrong: There is blood, though unlike a film like Saw this is almost justified violence. I'm a bit of a pansy and there were parts of this film that I couldn't watch, only because I can't stomach scenes of heavy abuse or neglect (I can't watch Trainspotting because of the scene with the baby!) Apart from that though this is a good film with a great story to it. What makes it even better is that it's British.
