Shane Meadows' revenge thriller, Dead Man's Shoes has scooped the top prize at the British Film Festival in Dinard, France. Judges announced their unanimous decision to give the Hitchcock d'Or award to the film on Saturday. The nominations are out for this year's British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) and zombies and dead men are leading the pack. One of the characters in Guy Ritchie's new film RocknRolla is based on Pete Doherty, the director has claimed. Shane Meadows has been given a major award at this year's Edinburgh International Festival. The Dead Man's Shoes director scooped the Michael Powell Award for best new British feature for his new film Somers Town, which focuses on the adventures of a Polish teenager in London.
