Well this is quite a ...
By Roo#5 from BLACKPOOL , 23 Apr 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
Well this is quite a good movie. The only major problem with it is that it's a bit slow, and does seem to take it's time moving along. But don't let that detract from what is a very well written and acted movie. Also i should point out that it's quite bloody in places, espically the vietnam scenes and the robber scene, which in turn made me laugh out loud. This movie is no comedy, but there is one scene and if i say "you were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off" you will know what i mean when you see it. It's worth renting just to see that scene alone.- Was this review helpful to you?

(13)Mother fing dead mother fing presidents!
By Carsey (89 reviews) from Wisbech , 16 Oct 2012I finished watching this film and had some strange reason to then watch Forrest Gump!? Now I'm not saying the two films are totally alike! But I felt they did follow the same thread? The problem is, the stereotypical story that follows.
We get the gist that the main character is Bronx born and bred along with his close friends and mentors, but literally every other word was mother f***er ths and that! Got a bit tedious after first 30 mins.
Saying that the film isn't that bad and you do find yourself being split down the middle at the end as whether to support or neglect the main characters choices.
It would have been a lot more boring if he just decided to 'keep on running'.- Was this review helpful to you?

Killed dollar bills
By a customer , 04 May 2012From an interesting and unusual start, this film slowly slid from me until I could hardly wait until the end. Sleazy, boring lives thrown together, trying to get our sympathy ?
I never enjoy gratuitous violence regardless of how realistically well it is presented; this affects my rating though I did admire some of the actors' performances.- Was this review helpful to you?

Blood and gore, but not a lot else
By a customer from Lancaster , 01 Jun 2010There is a motherlovin' lot of swearing, gore and violence in this film. If that appeals to you, go ahead and rent it; if not, there is not much else to commend it.
As a film about returning Vietnam heroes, and what awaits them, it fails to deliver. It may be a credible story about the central character of the film, but it is not a particularly engaging one, and does not have much else to say. It has little impact, other than leaving the viewer with a particularly nasty image of a mutilated soldier.- Was this review helpful to you?

Not Bad
By GaryI (785 reviews) from March, Cambs , 30 Mar 2010But what is it trying to be? This is a confusing film, the story is fairly straightforward but the themes are mixed and results in the narrative slowing down to a snails pace at times, so you have to stick with it.
The Hughes Bros are clearly experimenting here especially with blood and gore, and no doubt having fun in the process.
As developing film makers this is an interesting addition to their ouevre.- Was this review helpful to you?
