Swinging Sixties
By John Cooke from Halifax, England , 23 Nov 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
Typical swinging sixties spy movie based on the exploits of the character Bulldog Drummond. Richard Johnson plays a James Bond type character in a film which capitalises on the success of the Bond movies and the then fashionable cult of the spy film. The film has a host of beautiful women and a crop of top British stars including Leonard Rossiter. The movie capitalises on the then growing trend of the liberated women as they seek to assert themselves over men.- Was this review helpful to you?

(2)Not as bad as you might think
By Savage (632 reviews) from London, England , 21 Nov 2006It's a strange idea to resurrect the basically fascistic Bulldog Drummond at the height of the Swinging Sixties, but once you see the film, you know that all writer Jimmy Sangster has done is to resurrect the name. He's now an insurance investigator, up to his neck in a plot to make scads of cash by bumping off important industrialists.
Elke Sommer and friends wear much extremely becoming and very scanty clothing; Richard Johnson is acceptably cool as a cut-rate Bond; there's good support from Nigel Green (then appearing as the heroic Nayland Smith in the Fu Manchu series, opposite Christopher Lee). It all adds up to nothing much, but it's okay entertainment - and much better than the poor sequel, 'Some girls do'.- Was this review helpful to you?
