Deadwood - a must see
By Richard Taylor from UK , 10 May 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
Almost too tempting, deadwood, deadgood. Set at the time of the US goldrush just after the massacare at the Little Bighorn, this brings the US to (sometimes appaling) life. Fantastic performances - you would not believe Ian McShane could do it, language so fruity you could start a greengrocers, and some very strong scripting.- Was this review helpful to you?

(217)Dark, funny & poetical
By a customer , 14 Mar 2013Fan-bloody-tastic! Certainly put Ripper Street (England's answer to this series) in a grey light. Dark, funny, poetical and beautiful to look at.- Was this review helpful to you?

By Theydonfox (2 reviews) , 08 May 2012A top western series that my wife and I enjoyed - a shame that there was only 3 series - Ian Mcshane was at his best - another side to the lovejoy characture that most might know - if you have some spare time go for it - a western sopranos !!!!- Was this review helpful to you?

Possible the best tv program ever
By Aspman (82 reviews) from Scotland , 28 Oct 2011Epic, amazing, awesome, riveting I run out of adjectives for this series.
A slow burning story set over a very short period of time. Some episodes follow on day to day but it's not always clear what the passage of time is. The story might be slow but it is gripping. The actors are all amazing without exception. And Ian McShane is something else as Swearengen. The most shocking thing about this program is not the language (which makes Danny Boyle's Train-spotting tame) but that is was cancelled unfinished after 3 series.- Was this review helpful to you?
