HBO Delivers Yet Again
By A Very Discerning Viewer from Derbyshire, UK , 24 Jul 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
I have to question anyone actually renting any movies at all when there are hours of quality viewing like this available. After becoming hooked and dazzled by the likes of 'Six Feet Under', 'The West Wing' and 'The Sopranos', I signed up for this immediately, simply because it came from HBO. And I don't even like westerns. Grand, epic and as realistic as you and me could never imagine, this is adult viewing for an intelligent audience. And if you you've never seen 'Six Feet Under', you're denyong yourself a life affirming experience at the very least.- Was this review helpful to you?

and so it ends...
By Aspman (82 reviews) from Scotland , 28 Aug 2012You'll find this series of Deadwood very frustrating. It builds very slowly to the end and there really isn't much of a climax at all. Nothing is really resolved and there are no cliffhangers as such. It's very much like everyone was ready for series 4 and HBO said no and shut the door at the last minute.
There are some new characters in this series like the theatre troop. They really don't go anywhere and it's not clear what they would have bought to the show.
The acting is still phenomenal, Al Swearengen is probably the best character to ever grace the small screen the complexity of the characters and the story is a glory to behold. Only Steve the Drunk is bleedin annoying. But even he is acted well.
There will be no conclusion to Deadwood ever. So I'm off to hunt the internet for clues as to what might have been.- Was this review helpful to you?

BIGGEST ANTICLIMAX IN HISTORY OF TV
By TomBl (1 review) , 13 Sep 2011WARNING Don't bother with the 3rd series as the finale which the whole season is building up to is the biggest letdown in televisual history! What were they thinking?- Was this review helpful to you?

A must see
By NickySpyderpyg (9 reviews) , 31 May 2011Shakespearian - the hero, the anti-hero. I have watched this twice and every scene is a masterpiece, the characters are so vivid, the acting is second to none. However, this is not relaxing to watch, it needs your full attention to appreciate the subtleties therein.- Was this review helpful to you?
