See Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn as you've never seen them before, enlivening this special-effects laden, extremely dark comedy from Robert Zemeckis. Superbitch actress Streep and ex-heavyweight novelist Hawn are the present and former loves of plastic surgeon-turned-mortician Bruce Willis, whose talents can't compete with eccentric witch Isabella Rossellini's devilish gift of eternal youth. Zemeckis's under-rehearsed direction is at odds with a savagely delicious script and inspired casting: both leading ladies are superbly acerbic as they try to outwit and outbitch each other, while Willis is a pleasant surprise as the put-upon hubby in this quirky but enjoyable oddity.

A good film given a poor treatment

Whilst Death Becomes Her is a great comedy especially with Bruce Willis cast in a role the you would never really think him suited for the whole DVD experience sucked.

Presented in 4:3 letterbox to remove almost all the quality in the first place (why do studios torture us with this?) it also treats us to what looks more like a copy from an old VHS tape just to finish the quality off. There are films much older and lower grade that have been given much better treatment in the conversion to DVD.

Rent it to watch it but don't waste money buying it unless they redo it as a proper 16:9 release.

    Death becomes her

Bad acting, or was it meant to be so hammy, played like an am dram production. Watch about 40 minutes before leaving it to read a book.

I forgot how ace this film is. It is very funny, and really entertaining - very much in the same tone as The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Definatley one to watch over and over again, a classic.

    Very Funny

what can i say brilliant comes to mind Goldie Hawn and Meryl Streep trying to outbitch one another. To be honest i didn't think Meryl would carry of comedy but i was pleased to say she certainly can. Bruce willis excellent as put upon husband walter. I recommend this film highly a good night in with pizza and wine.
