Chances are if you're reading this then you're probably already a Death Cab For Cutie fan. If not, this DVD is a pretty good introduction to the band (although it doesn't contain anything from the new album 'Plans' which seems to be taking Death Cab to a wider audience). I've been into them for a few years now so my review is probably a bit biased. The DVD is a basic mixture of live performances (mainly from the Transatlanticism album but a few older ones too such as 'Prove My Hypotheses') and pretty in-depth interviews about everything from touring in general, history of the band and stories about where the ideas came from for certain songs. So in that sense it's a fairly standard structure for a music DVD.
The DVD also contains the usual bonus features such as deleted scenes and a pretty good acoustic set.
There's nothing revolutionary or particularly innovative here but it's a must for Death Cab For Cutie fans and definitely one to consider for anyone into indie/indie-rock/alternative music.
At the start of the film, we were told that the film would be about a band on the road and it certainly was-just that! As a band 'Death Cab For Cutie' are excellent, however as being coveraged in a documentary, they're not as interesting as I first thought they would be. The documentary is structured with a short interview segment placed between a full coverage song by DCFC on stage. This structuring gets repeitive after a while, there are some lighter moments, when you hear anecdotes from the members of the band, however they don't seem to expand from this.
If you're a fan you will possibly like this, however as a pretty interested fan, after viewing this, I felt rather dissapointed. Nevermind, I'm still happy I gave it a go.
Oh yeah and there are some extras on the disc too, but they're not that great, Andy Cam is the best extra, it at least gives characterisation to the band members.
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart thrilled hundreds of fans in Los Angeles on Friday night (06Nov09) as they kicked off their Mall Tour to promote The Twilight Saga: New Moon. The pair, along with co-star Taylor Lautner, took to the stage in the Hollywood and Highland Center and sent waiting fans into a frenzy. Pattinson told the crowd, "First of all, thanks to you guys. Without you, Twilight wouldn't be anywhere, so thanks very much." And Lautner stunned fans further by announcing: "We... Read more
